When the kids get to 5th grade, they have an overnight class trip to Mackinac Island. This is a HUGE deal for the kids and loads of fun that they look forward to all year long. First, the kids had the privilege to learn the parts of a schooner (before going on the trip). We headed to Traverse City and they boarded the large vessel. While aboard, they completed numerous science experiments with the water, fish and plankton that were taken from Lake Huron. Day two we rode a horse-drawn carriage, ate lunch at the Grand Hotel, rode bikes on the island, did a little souvenir shopping and ate the famous fudge. Here are just a few pictures to catch me up for the weekend.
