Day 119/365 You got me what?

If you knew my hubby, you'd know that he likes gadgets. Particularly camping and fishing gadgets. One year for Christmas...he got me this. A leatherman...good thing he followed it with a necklace. Funny thing is, I use this more than the necklace. SOOC

Day 118/365 Night reading

I realize this is a late photo of the day. My oldest likes to read before bed, so here's her silhouette of her favorite past-time. Converted SOOC image to BW.

Day 117/365 Spike

Trying to be creative with a silhouette theme is proven to be difficult. I'm going to keep trying and see if I can surprise you one of these days. This is my aloe plant, yes, aloe in Michigan. Thanks to my mama from Florida we have a little in a pot to remind us that FL has sunshine and we have clouds. Its ok though, we'll get sun again...someday.

Day 116/365 New Theme- Silhouettes - Dancing

I just found out the new theme this morning. I didn't want just a silhouette of my dog's face. That's too simple. SO, this is my dog "dancing" for a treat. Holding the camera, getting the dog at arm length and getting her to turn at just the angle I needed was a little challenging. I had to use my widest lens for this 17mm. This is the best one of the series. SOOC
Should I have cropped or photoshopped my hand out of the photo? What do you think?

Day 115/365 CD framing

The last day of "framing" - I decided to take a pic through a CD/DVD. It was a little harder than anticipated b/c of the clear section of the disc that was creating a double-blur of my duaghter's chin.

Day 114/365 I've been "Framed"

A little fun with "framing" - through the eyes of my glasses as I look at my newly painted music room (theme from last week, music)

Day 113/365 Framing...Family & Friends

Like many folks out there, family and friends are a big part of your life. The same goes for my family. This is a photo of a couple pieces I recently purchased and hung in my kitchen, framed with the aloe plant on my kitchen table. SOOC (my goal each day)

Day 112/365 Colorado

No, I didn't take this today, but rather, last summer. My hubby and I went on the most epic hike of them all in Aspen, CO. It was the Maroon Bells and took us 3 hours to climb. We specifically got in better shape so we could handle any hike we wanted to do. I'm so glad we did. If you LOVE to hike...I highly recommend this one. Gorgeous views the whole way up and when you reach the peak, well, its breathtaking. My pictures don't do it justice with my point and shoot (lightweight) camera.

Day 111/365 Shadow Frame

Like any pooch, my dog LOVES to lay in the sun. I took this yesterday. The sun finally made an appearance in Michigan! The rumor has it that we are supposed to get more today, but it's not starting off with much promise. For the time being, we have wood floors, so I had to lay down a blanket so she would lay down in the ray of sun coming in from our back door. My new goal for myself is to get as many SOOC (Straight out of Camera) shots as possible. No cropping, no post editing. This one is SOOC.

Day 110/365 Next theme...."Framed"

I know, this is NOT what the group meant by framing, but thought it would be fun to share. This was actually taken about a year ago, but I had to share.

Day 109/365 Rainbow Loom creation

Last night my youngest and I were spending time together and decided to make a bracelet on her Rainbow Loom. After looking online, we decided on this pattern. (Click here for link to pattern) Let me tell you...this one takes a long time to make, but sure looks neat when it's done.

108/365 Breakfast and a show

This is just a shot of me playing around with flash and DOF, light and my BW processing. Since my daughter was eating her breakfast with a show, she became my subject.

Day 106/365 Tools

It's a late post, I realize. Today my husband and I have been pulling up carpet, pad and staples and many tack strips as well. I never realized what a pain (in the back) this is, and why people pay the carpet professionals to get rid of it for them. This is a pic that represents our day.

Day 104 Music continues

If you've been following my blog this week, I've had a musical instrument theme going. It has been an accident until today - just because I have been working on pictures to hang on our music room wall. SO, today is a violin. I played in high school and still have it. Today I got it out, tuned it and then proceeded to screech out a tune. No where CLOSE to how I played so many years ago. I may play around with it again, despite the odd look I got from my dog. :)

Day 103/365 Valentine cards

One thing about Valentine's is the kids and their school parties. I have mixed feelings about them so I'm gonna try to make them fun while I can. Here is what I put together for my youngest's cards this year. A play on the word fantastic and FUN (because we're giving her classmates FUN dip).

Day 102/365 Piano art

Yesterday I created a piece of art for my drummer. Today, piano for my pianist. I'm not 100% that this is the one I will use, but its what I have currently. Anyone with suggestions to make it more artsy/creative, I'm willing to consider it. First pic is the original photo.

Day 101/365 Music Room

I'm currently in the process of turning our dining room into a music room for our girls. We would never use the formal space and music is used daily. My oldest sings and plays piano, my youngest plays the drums. This is a pic I plan printing for the room using my colors in our home. The first picture is the photo I used to create the finished product. After a couple hours on photoshop, I'm pleased to share this. Original photo taken at the music store.

Dau 100/365 Lady enters

Now that the liquid theme is over, and I can't recall what the next theme is, I decided to post a picture I took just a couple days ago. I was getting ready to wash the dishes and found this little lady crawling on the edge of a pitcher in my sink. I grabbed my 105mm macro lens and took the opportunity to get a close look at the little bug.

Day 99/365 Frozen water

So, this is technically not liquid....its just in the frozen state :) A couple days ago we had a wonderful slow snow falling from the sky with little to no wind. Perfect for taking frozen water pictures.

Day 98/365 Density

After trying syrup a few days go (click here to see that post) I decided to add the oil mixture and light corn syrup and see if there would be layers. SO, there is vegetable oil, olive oil, generic pancake syrup and light corn syrup. I found that the light corn syrup was a little lighter than the pancake syrup and started to bubble up toward the oil mixture. Play around with what you have in your house and see what you can come up with. If you try something, please come back and comment on this page and let me know what you tried and how it worked out. I'm always up for something new to try!

Day 97/365 Water and Oil...don't mix

I saw a peer try this so I thought I'd try it myself (top view, pic 1) - then I took another angle from the side view just to be different.

Day 96/365 Syrup?

My daughter did a science experiment with liquids last year, so we recreated it here at home for the liquid theme. Mixing water with syrup. They don't mix. The syrup sinks immediately to the bottom.

Day 95/365 Fizz

This liquid theme has been pretty fun. My daughter helped me on this one so I could be ready for the moment when the two substances combined to form this fizzy affect. The ingredients? White vinegar and baking soda with a touch of green food coloring.

Day 93/365 New Theme - Liquid

I must say, it took me a little while and a test of my patience to finally figure out how to get drops of water in focus. SO, while I was taking a few deep breaths between tries, I took this instead.

Day 92/365 Remembrance Photography

Today and the rest of February begins a month of giving to a wonderful non-profit organization called Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep (www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org). Many photographers like myself donate our time to take remembrance photos for families that have lost their baby at birth or shortly after birth. I have entered a few photos in their fundraising opportunity at www.charitymodelsearch.org. Each vote is $1 and there is a minimum of $5 votes to checkout. Please consider supporting this organization as it benefits many families through their grieving process.
