235,236/365 Two A Day

I HAVE been taking pictures, I just had lousy internet and couldn't post. I am now back from vacation and have a few days to get caught up on. Instead of posting all the pictures at once, I thought I'd post 2 pictures a day until I'm officially caught up. My hubby and I went to West Virginia (left the kids with my in-laws in OH) and did a bit of hiking and fly-fishing.

Fish - This is a rainbow trout. My hubby tied the fly himself so he was happy I managed to get the shot showing it. (105mm, ISO400, 1/320, F7.1)

Feather - MACRO - a feather I found in the rocks as I took pictures of my man fishing. (105mm, ISO200, 1/400, F4.2)

234/365 Mad turtle

Yesterday, my husband and I took our girls to a nature facility just north of us. They had one room full of taxidermy plus a few live animals in aquariums. I thought this guy looked at me like he was mad. What do you think?

231-233/365 Crazy Fun

It's summer. I thought I was busy during the school year. I've managed to let nearly 3 days go by without a post. SO, here are my 3 catch-up pictures from last night's carnival.

230/365 Pretty little drops

I know I had a recent post of water drops from my bush (Click for previous post), and I had to post and share something! This one I tried to use a little negative space. What do you think? Does the negative space work for this?

229/365 Sprinkler Fun!

My oldest is "too old" for sprinklers - at least that's my take on why she didn't go play w/her sister. I'm glad I still have one that likes jumping through the water.

228/365 Garden success!

I really have no idea how my garden is doing so splendidly. I have the biggest black thumb EVER! I guess its a good thing these plants are outside, where God can water them and provide the sunshine. Inside, I'm sure they wouldn't fare as well.

Here's the first strawberry that has bloomed/sprung...whatever the terminology is for it :)

227/365 Cucumbers

This is the first year I have attempted growing vegetables. I'm learning a bit as I go, like cucumbers for example. I knew they would grow up a trellis, I didn't, however, know that they had little tentacles that grabbed and wrapped around it. Very fun to watch daily.

225, 226/365 Happy Father's Day!

Yesterday, I managed to forget to post a picture, so today here are two, to make up for it. We had a great Father's Day. Started by the girls and I making waffles with strawberries and sausage. Afterwards, headed to church. Later in the afternoon we went to a recreational area where all 4 of us rode our bikes on a trail (first time for my youngest). We had a little fishing (picture), more bike riding and then hiking (Pic of Lake) to top it off! Dinner at "Alex's" on a picnic table in the wonderful sunshiny weather. Couldn't have been any more fun. Great family time.

224/365 Waiting for sun

WHOA! I almost forgot my post for the day. Although it didn't rain today, it was cloudy and cool. Here's a shot from the rain we've been getting.

222/365 Drops

Droplets of water have accumulated on the bush outside my kitchen window. I thought it was lovely, so of course, I had to take a few pictures. Gotta love the rain - (Ok, all in moderation).

221/365 Cupcake CRAZY!

Today I had a photo shoot with a friend for her custom cupcake business. (Sweet Blessing Custom Cupcakes) They are delicious!! (of course I sampled the product). :) I will probably post more on a different day because I just can't choose which one to share.

220/365 Texture

I decided to practice hand-holding the camera with manual focus. A little fun with texture on the end of my dog's nose. SOOC

220/365 Clematis

I know its another flower, but this one is actually in my own yard. That's right, the "black thumb" actually has a pretty clematis in her yard.

219/365 Never get enough

I don't know about you, but I can't ever get enough of looking at pretty flowers. I don't like planting or caring for them (probably due to my "black thumb"), but I do enjoy looking at them.

218/365 Last Day for Zoe

Today was Zoe's last day at Cook Elementary school as therapy dog. For the past 3 years, Zoe's job was to sit on a bean bag chair with students K-2 and listen as they read to her. It's a great way to encourage literacy in our schools. To state the obvious, dogs can't talk, thus, can't make fun of the slower readers. This safety zone encourages children to read out loud which in turn allows the students to improve. The children have loved sitting with her and sharing their stories. I feel privileged to have been a part in this program and now it is time for a little change in our lives. Zoe and I plan to visit a nearby retirement home and cheer up the elderly.

Cook staff, thank you for the gift, Zoe loves the treats!

I encourage all therapy dog teams to pursue schools and library literacy programs as part of their volunteer work.

217/365 Window Light

Yesterday, while on my daughter's field trip, I saw this in the window of the school house and knew I had to take a picture. Lovely lighting.

216/365 The good OLD days

Today my oldest went on a field trip to Crossroads Village where her class was taught about how the one room schoolhouse used to function. The rules and respect for the teachers in those days (year 1883) was a learning experience for all the children. Here is my favorite shot of my daughter learning to write with pen and ink.

215/365 Meet Maggie

Meet Maggie, the 11 year old, Maltese therapy dog. (Mid-Michigan Therapy Dogs). She's a sweetheart, which is why she is so good at her job.
Here are a couple of my favorites from today's session.

214/365 The Candle light

This was a candle "light" in the church of St. Paul's church in NYC. I loved the way it hung in front of the old window.

211-213/365 5th grade trip

When the kids get to 5th grade, they have an overnight class trip to Mackinac Island. This is a HUGE deal for the kids and loads of fun that they look forward to all year long. First, the kids had the privilege to learn the parts of a schooner (before going on the trip). We headed to Traverse City and they boarded the large vessel. While aboard, they completed numerous science experiments with the water, fish and plankton that were taken from Lake Huron. Day two we rode a horse-drawn carriage, ate lunch at the Grand Hotel, rode bikes on the island, did a little souvenir shopping and ate the famous fudge. Here are just a few pictures to catch me up for the weekend.
