Day 152/365 Low Light Low Flash

My hubby has created a fly tying area up in our basement. A dark, unfinished one at that. I thought I'd take my camera down there today and play with flash in low light. This was lit by my on camera flash turned way down to 1/128th power so the table light would still appear to be the only light source.

Day 151/365 Flies

My hubby's favorite past time is fly fishing. He even ties his own flies. These are some of his first, I took a couple years ago as I mend on the couch yet another day. The flu really took it out of me this time but I thought I'd share something.

Today I'm recovering from being sick. This was my view from the couch. Taken with my phone - no metadata. Will get back on track tomorrow. Hope you all are free from the bug that is going around.

Day 149/365 Fun with Fruit

I had just gone shopping and was wandering the house trying to come up with what to take a picture of. Then it dawned on me as I noticed the spikes on the pineapple I had just purchased. Trying to come up with a different perspective was a little tricky. Hope you like it.

148/365 Meet Lily

Not only am I a photographer for Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, but I also volunteer my time with my therapy dog. Last night, I took badge pictures for the new training group of dogs and handlers that will be graduating next month with Mid-Michigan Therapy Dogs (www.midmichigantherapydogs.com). Here is one of the cuties, named Lily.

I've been having great fun with my daughter's rose. This is the last one...promise (although I have many I could share). Playing with shadows here. SOOC

Day 145/365 Rose

My daughter received a rose at the Daddy Daughter Dance. Since I have been seeing numerous flower pictures from the 365 group from around the world, I thought I'd get in on the action. Mine, however is in a vase, not the ground. We are not experiencing spring yet. Looking back on this metadata, I realize I could have lowered the ISO - oh well, another day perhaps.

Day 144/365 Dance Pic

Yesterday was "CandyLand" themed Daddy Daughter dance, so of course I had to take a few pics before they left. Here is one I liked b/c it showed her dress with her corsage. Window lit.

Day 143/365 CandyLand

Tonight is the Daddy Daughter Dance at my daughter's school. Theme...CandyLand. I was on the committee and took a few pictures before I left. No moms allowed :) The first pic is a photo op area for the girls and their dads (note the game pieces on the floor). The 2nd pic is a "candy shoppe" they can stop at for a little treat.

Day 142/365 Clips

Yesterday, we finally got more rainbow loom bands in the mail from amazon. My daughter has been sooooo patient and thankfully, this batch of bands are good quality and haven't been breaking constantly. I liked the curves of this. The "S" clips to hold the braclets on.

Day 141/365 Skating fun

This past Sunday, my youngest was invited to a rollerskating bday party. SO, my oldest and I went to skate as well and both decided to try the "speed" skates. Apparently they are a LOT faster than the normal quad skates and they were a bit more comfortable as well. Here is a pic from my iphone.

Day 140/365 Colorful liquid

Not too long ago, I surprised my mom by heading to her place in Florida. She's very creative, artsy and loves colors and flowers. Right inside her front door, she has many types of glass bottles of different shapes and sizes, all filled with different colored water. Her front door has a window in it, which makes these bottles really shine and throw colors around. I didn't have my camera with me, but I did have my phone. Thus, no metadata. Thanks for being an inspiration mom :)

Day 138/365 Back to nature

Ok, this wasn't taken today, this was taken back on day 130 when I had the Squirrel Attack post, but I'm sick today and am not in the creative or energetic mood. I promise to get back on track when I'm feeling better with new subject matter.

After being around the little mama squirrel for a few minutes, she finally let her guard down from attack pose and just watched me as I watched her. I had never seen a tree with so many squirrel nests, but this tree was perfect to accommodate so many. Check out each clump of branches on this tree...each was filled with another little nest all the way up the tree. A type of high rise for the little tree rats.

Day 137/365 Drip Drop

Someone in the 365 challenge group, posted an article about taking photos of dripping water. This is my first attempt and was pleasantly surprised. I don't currently have a theme for the week, but am contemplating what it should be. Any suggestions are welcome and will be taken into consideration.

Day 136/365 Hinge

The last day of this "around my home" theme - on the dilapidated barn, every hinge and everything metal was rusted and worn. Here is a door hinge.

Day 135/365 Melting

I live in Michigan...we have endured possibly the coldest and snowiest winter of my life! The past couple of days have been wonderfully sunny and even hit 40 degrees. The snow melting has started and we have now seen grass for the first time since Thanksgiving. As I was walking along our street, I noticed this. A deteriorated paper that probably was plowed into this snow pile. I thought it odd, that all the snow around it melted and here is sits as though it was on a pedestal. SO, I took a picture. Odd.

Day 134/365 Sunlight

This morning as I sat at my kitchen table eating breakfast, I notice the sun was gleaming through my front door windows. It caught my attention, so I immediately grabbed my camera, as I knew the sun would be too high moments later. I adjusted the perspective on this to be straight, as I couldn't take the photo AND catch the light at a head on position. That is the only editing I performed. I took a couple different exposures, but I liked the darker one as it gave more of a framing appearance and liked the blue to yellow hues.

Day 133/365 Barn Window edit

I'm having a hard time deciding which edit I like the best. What do you think? 1st is SOOC (Straight Out Of Camera), 2nd is High Contrast and 3rd is Old Edit.

Day 132/354 Deer Tracks

I love walking in the woods with snow on the ground. You can tell what animals have been there. I found some deer prints, that led to a well worn path of tracks. I followed it for a while, but this is what I found - the deer had jumped across the creek (which was too wide for me to follow)

Day 131/365 Spooky

Continuing my walk through the woods, I came upon an old dilapidated barn. The windows were warped & doors and hinges were falling apart. This is a picture taken through a broken door. I can only imagine what creatures live in there. What do you think? Color or BW? SOOC

Day 130/365 Squirrel attack!

As I was walking through the woods, I heard two squirrels chattering at each other. I looked up and saw this one, which never moved too far from the area she was in. I stopped and watched her for a while and eventually, she didn't mind my presence. This is when I first walked up, obviously in attack mode. Her tail was definitely creating the body language to STAY AWAY. Turns out, the bunch of leaves on the left of the picture, was her nest.

Day 129/365 New Theme...around my home

The theme I have chosen for myself this week is "Around my home". Today, it wasn't too cold, so I opted for a walk in the nearby woods just to see what I could find. On my way to the woods, on the sidewalk, I almost walked right past this. A leaf embedded within the ice. I'm not sure why it struck me as photo worthy, I guess b/c you don't see this type of thing daily. No ice on top of the leaf, just the leaf sitting inches under the surface of the snow and ice.

Day 128/365 Rainbow Loom fundraiser

If you have kids between the ages of 7-13, you are probably aware of the latest craze...the Rainbow Loom, 2014's Toy of the Year. My girls love creating bracelets and rings. Recently, a girl in middle school in our town is going through a lot of medical expenses due to her donor heart failing. My oldest daughter and some of her friends decided to start making these bracelets on their Rainbow Loom and sell them to their friends at school - then donating ALL the money they make to help raise money for this family. I've gotta say, I'm a pretty proud mama. She's already running out of rubber bands, which, I am happy to replace for such a cause. Way to go girls!

Day 127/365 Juggling

Going back to the action/movement theme here. This is my hubby juggling. The idea was to capture movement, NOT to freeze the balls in the air. I chose to crop this tight to avoid the cluttered background and to focus more on the juggling balls.

Day 126/365 Double exposure fun

Yesterday I posted a double-exposure of instruments. Someone in the 365 day challenge posted an article using multiple exposure with texture. Trying to figure out how to expose each shot was a little difficult as I was trying to make my hand, not the bush be the subject. I plan to play more with this - what fun! I like this one better in BW (Black & White)

Day 125/365 Seeing double

What I wanted to do for the "action" theme didn't get completed today. However, I did work on a little double-exposure, which was pretty fun. Since my last theme was music, I thought I'd combine my daughter's instruments into one photo and see what that looked like. What do you think?

Day 124/365 Spin

I will probably try this with one of my kids on a different day (or later today even), but for now, a baby doll will have to do. This was taken at 22mm of me holding it and spinning in my family room. When I try this again, my goal will be to make the background even more blurred or to be faster. I will attempt this again, I'm sure. This is SOOC.

Day 120-123/365 Action theme -Jump, Set & RUN!

OK, I've been gone for the past few days and have to play a little catch up as I have been away from my camera. Here are a few in the Action theme. I plan to be more creative after tonight. I WILL be using other subjects in the upcoming days. :) I have JUST (today) switched my focus button to BACK focus button and getting used to the new feel. It is a bit odd at first so I'm sure I will have some adjustment period to deal with, thus the slightly out of focus one of my daughter running. I'm putting these on SOOC (but I had to blur out the other childrens' faces for privacy)
